Henri Cartier-Bresson

While researching Henri Cartier-Bresson, I found out how he was a French photographer and a filmmaker. He had also made photojournalism an art form. His interest in photography started as a young kid, he had owned a Box Brownie and would take pictures over school break. To me, the most interesting fact would be when he was taken prisoner by Germans during World War 2. He escaped in 1943, and joined an underground photographic unit. In 1945, he made a movie informing the US Office of War Information, Le Retour,  which dealt with the return to France of released prisoners.

I chose Henri because of how his pictures tell stories. In matter of fact, unique stories. It's important for pictures to elicit the viewer. Going along with that, in some of his pictures, the stories they tell are more mellow and sorrowful (Picture 1 & 4). Others, are more joyful than other (Picture 2). My favorite picture of his is the one with the little boy smiling(Picture 5).It's my favorite because of how ironic it is for him to be holding what looks like two wine bottles.
